June Favorites

Five Things

Below are five things I’m loving lately for June:

1. Floral design
I have recently done all the flowers for two weddings, which I think turned out great! See my Instagram for photos. 🙂

2. Yoga
Honestly this isn’t surprising, but I’m making progress and it feels great! I hope to have more yoga posts up soon!

3. Fluffy romance novels
I do love to read intense nonfiction and more serious novels, but I also love fluffy YA romances. Currently I’m reading Lola and the Boy Next Door. Have you read it?

4. Training
I’m currently training for the Dumbo Double Dare and a marathon, but I’m being more cautious this time. Slow and steady progress is key for me, and I’m doing great. I’m throwing in swimming, biking, pump, and yoga for cross training, and it’s working out great! …and I’m thinking about doing another triathlon!! What do you like to do for cross training?

5. Ironman YouTube videos
My long-term goal is to complete an Ironman triathlon, so I’ve been pumping myself up by watching the recap videos from this and last year’s race series. I’m also watching videos highlighting the many awesome women in the sport. Super inspiring. I can’t wait for the day when I hear, “You. Are. An. Ironman!”

I’m linking up with Jill for Fitness Friday and Courtney from Eat Pray Run DC, Cynthia from You Signed Up for WHAT?!, and Mar from Mar on the Run for Friday Five.

What are you loving lately?

  1. Whitney, I enjoy some “fluffy” reads over the summer months, as well, I’m not going to lie – ha! Right now I’m reading Worthy by Catherine Ryan Hyde (she wrote the novel Pay It Forward) and it’s really good, so far. I’ve heard of Lola and the Boy Next Door; glad to hear you like it! Happy to see you in the Friday Five link up; hope you have a great weekend!

    1. I’ll have to add Worthy to my list! I’m glad I’m not the only one reading fluffy books. I find it great to take a break from intense books and focus on fun reads. 🙂

  2. Hi, love your list! The Ironman You Tube Videos caught my attention, as I am currently training for Ironman Mont Tremblant, which is just 9 weeks away now!! Do you have a favorite you recommend… I could always use some extra motivation with the tough training schedule I am following! 🙂

    1. Wow, that’s close! Good luck! I actually love to just go to the Ironman YouTube channel and play through the recap playlist. I really enjoyed the recap of IM Texas (https://youtu.be/-ecmYSnPh3w). It highlights each portion of the race and inspiring people along the way. I loved it.

  3. Add yoga to my what I’m loving list too. It feels good and the progress is so motivating. I don’t know that it’s exactly crossfit but have you watched any of the American Ninja Warriors challenge on youtube. Serious motivation!

Thanks for linking up with Fitness Friday and have an awesome rest of the weekend!

    1. So glad to hear that you’re loving yoga! It’s amazing how fast improvement comes with consistency! I haven’t watched any Ninja Warriors videos except one, but I’ll have to look them up. 🙂

  4. I need to check out Lola and the Boy Next Door. I read Anna and the French Kiss earlier this year and flew through it. I’m getting ready to start Judy Blume’s new book. I hope it’s good!

Good luck with the Dumbo training. Sounds like you have a great strategy. I really need to cross train! 🙂

    1. I flew through Anna and the French Kiss too. That’s why I had to read Lola and the Boy Next Door! I didn’t know Judy Blume came out with a new book. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks for the well wishes! I’m making myself cross train so I don’t hurt myself, which I have done way too many times before. 🙂

  5. I am loving the kids being home from school for summer break and looking forward to leaving next week for vacay. {not a staycation} LOL
I am actually really loving lately watching the Warriors in the NBA finals. I don’t even enjoy basketball, but I am hooked on the playoffs.

    1. I love real vacations! 🙂 I hope you have a great time! I’m so surprised the Warriors are doing so well this season. They were so bad for so many years. Haha.
