The New Look

Sorry about all the theme-switching fun that’s been happening on French Fry Runner. I’m working on making the site more indicative of me and my personality and interests. I’ve decided that instead of strictly posting on health and fitness, I’m molding the blog into a reflection of my true passions. Of course health and fitness (running, yoga, and the like) are still going to be featured prominently on the blog, but I was feeling like posting was becoming more of a chore. And, I don’t know about you, but straight-up race recaps and weekly workouts weren’t working for me. Let’s face it, the blog was getting stale, and I wasn’t enjoying posting on here–at all.

See, I do not have a type-A personality, so sticking to any type of schedule or remembering to post a weekly recap every week just doesn’t cut it. And I was really feeling like I was going through the motions and was trying to copy other more successful bloggers. In its essence, that’s not a bad thing, but I don’t want to just be like other fitness bloggers; I just want to be me. Therefore, I’ve decided to make the blog more “me”–and post about travel and life and food and fitness.

This will work out better for you, dear readers, because you’ll get better content, better photos, better everything. I will be trying to stick to a regular posting schedule, but if I don’t have quality content, I won’t post. I’m trying to step it up a notch, so there will be some adjusting to do. I’m also still working on the layout and look of the blog, so bear with me as we update everything!

Cheers!
Whitney

Five Things

Below are five things I’m loving lately for June:

1. Floral design
I have recently done all the flowers for two weddings, which I think turned out great! See my Instagram for photos. πŸ™‚

2. Yoga
Honestly this isn’t surprising, but I’m making progress and it feels great! I hope to have more yoga posts up soon!

3. Fluffy romance novels
I do love to read intense nonfiction and more serious novels, but I also love fluffy YA romances. Currently I’m reading Lola and the Boy Next Door. Have you read it?

4. Training
I’m currently training for the Dumbo Double Dare and a marathon, but I’m being more cautious this time. Slow and steady progress is key for me, and I’m doing great. I’m throwing in swimming, biking, pump, and yoga for cross training, and it’s working out great! …and I’m thinking about doing another triathlon!! What do you like to do for cross training?

5. Ironman YouTube videos
My long-term goal is to complete an Ironman triathlon, so I’ve been pumping myself up by watching the recap videos from this and last year’s race series. I’m also watching videos highlighting the many awesome women in the sport. Super inspiring. I can’t wait for the day when I hear, “You. Are. An. Ironman!”

April Favorites

I’ve always enjoyed reading blog posts on people’s favorite things, so I thought I’d follow suit. Below are five things I’m loving lately:

1. Percy Jackson and the Olympians books
I’m reading the third book, and they’re really good! πŸ™‚ I always love a good book, and these are just fun to read. I’m excited to finish out the series and move to the next one.

2. My heart rate monitor
I’ve been doing a lot of group fitness classes lately, and my heart rate monitor is really coming in handy. I can track whether my heart rate is getting too high or how many calories I’m burning per workout. I’m all about the data!

3. Tai Chi
I went to my first tai chi class last week. It was so good! I really loved it. It’s a great stress-reliever and quite fun after learning the movements. I can’t wait to continue practicing tai chi.

4. PiYo
As I mentioned, I went to my first PiYo class last week. It was so great, and I can tell that as I continue, I’m going to love it.

5. Flowers
I’m doing the flowers for my sister-in-law’s wedding (and my niece’s), and I’m so much fun! If you would’ve told my 16-year-old self she’d be a floral designer, she’d think you were crazy. But I truly love it.
