This week has been good!

I’ve been able to run a lot this week! I’m training for a 10k, so I’ve been following a plan to get up to running for 60 minutes straight. This week calls for 10 minutes of running with 1 minute of walking, repeated 4 times. It has worked out really well. I’ve done some hills in my neighborhood, and I think it has helped me a lot. Here’s a great page on Runner’s World all about running hills.

Next week, I’ll be running 15 minutes with 1 minute of walking, repeated 3 times. We’ll see how it goes.

In other news, SkinnyRunner is having a great giveaway. Check it out for your chance to win some new running shoes!

Gettin’ Fit

Just a quick update: I’m about 7 minutes faster on my 1.5-mile run than I was on Monday. I guess that’s what happens when you’re determined to be persistent. Yes, I know that it hasn’t even been a week, but I’m pretty excited about it. Anyway, I added some of my upcoming goal races to keep me motivated. They’re over on the right sidebar. I’m looking forward to that first 5k. I know that I said I wouldn’t run until June, but I think I’ll at least be able to finish the 5k on May 21. It’s just 22 days away, but I think if I keep working on it, I’ll be fine.

Cheers!

It starts.

I officially started my fitness journey on Saturday, April 23, with an hour of Zumba. I took Sunday off, and I’ve run ~1.5 miles each day this week for a total of about 4.5 miles. I think my Zumba class starts next Monday, so I will start going to classes then. Of course, I will still run every day except Sundays. I’ll post my total mileage/workouts each Saturday to have a record of my progress.

It’ll be fun to use this site to track progress and just keep a log of my adventures in fitness!
