New Shoes Are Awesome (Altra Provisioness)

Pretty, eh?
Pretty, eh?

Tonight (last night at the time of this post) was my first run in my new Altra Provisioness running shoes. So far so good. Only a bit of calf soreness (which is normal as of late on my runs). I really love how light they are and how my toes have room to spread out. I ran two miles, which was good since I’m definitely not used to the zero drop. I need to work my way into them, but they show promise so far. We’ll try ’em and see how they go.

Weekly Recap 12/10-12/15

I’m pleased to report that last week was a lot better, exercise-wise.

Monday: Rest

Tuesday: Hard treadmill run. I loved this run. I felt out of shape, of course, but it felt so good to push through and finish. And it definitely helped my stress level. Running has always been a way for me to “run away” from my stress–I’m sure it is for many of you as well. Anyway, it was good. 🙂

Wednesday: Rest

Thursday: Hard treadmill run. Now, I’m not the kind of gal that always wants to run hard/knows she shouldn’t, but this was another great one. I pushed myself and finished strong. But the real question is: Why on earth do the super fast/super fit/super whatever people always have to hop on the treadmills on both sides of me? No idea. It always makes me feel great when there’s a girl running a comfortable 6-minute-per-mile pace next to me. Not. Well, at least I am running–along with millions of others. Even if we’re not “fast.” Keep it up, everyone! We’re awesome!

Friday: Rest/go to our local outlet mall that just opened. (Hello, Nike and Under Armour outlet stores) I found some awesome Christmas presents for myself (again). Oh, and we went to Johnny Rocket’s–which has the most bland fries on the planet. (I’ll do a “The Search” post about the fries later, but if you go anytime soon, get the salad or drench the fries in ketchup.)

An Unexpected Journey
An Unexpected Journey

Saturday: Yeah, I slept in, so this was another rest day. But I did go see the Hobbit, which was pretty good. And then we walked around another outdoor mall and then went to an Altra warehouse sale, which had the Provisioness on sale for only $40. Yep, it was awesome.

Sunday: Rest, as always–but I did figure out my workout schedule for next year. I’m going to go to yoga and Pilates twice a week and Zumba once on top of my thrice-weekly runs. I know it sounds ambitious, but I’ll try it out and see how it goes.

Stay tuned (really) for some upcoming reviews and giveaways! Can’t get enough of those, eh?

Some thoughts . . .

Friday was the day that the horrible shooting happened in Newtown, Connecticut. I can’t even fathom how something so terrible could happen to such innocent and sweet children. My thoughts and prayers are with the parents and families going through this trial during what is supposed to be a time of year filled with wonder, excitement, and happiness. To my nieces and nephews, I love you all.
